Frances Ha

At the Landmark Theater. Favorite film of 2013 so far. A lot of joy, honesty, sadness, and truth. All of this with a flawed, cop-out of a third act.
Scenes to remember:
*Frances running down the New York streets
*Her off-the-cuff speech of finding love
*Dinner party
*Benji wanting Frances but her unawareness of reading the signals
*Sacremento/France

A re-write to the third act:
Once Sophie goes to Japan she should not return. Just the phone call to Frances while she is in France. Then Frances returns to New York, and slowly puts her life back together without the anchor of Sophie or past relationships. Takes the office job after mistakenly turning it down. Meets a couple new friends there. Maybe a guy emerges on the periphery. Working its way to Frances organizing a dance recital. The people in her life come out to see it. Eye contact with Benji or a new guy. She gets her own apartment. Small victories in life.
